Sometimes I wish we had some boys in the house! Hannah and Hailey are only 3 and 4 and they already LOVE to play "makeover". This ritual consists of pulling out all the "girl" makeup and doing nails, eyes and lips. Today we all got made over at least 4 times.... Exhausting! TFL!

Gymnastics day! I know the other Moms think I am crazy, but I am going to keep taking my camera to lessons util I get some decent pictures! I really need some help with the exposure.. they are either too dark, without the flash, at any setting I have tried, without pulling out the tripod (which I think I would get some really crazy looks doing) or overexposed with the flash. I tried the "sports" setting and got terrible results as well. I used my 75-300 lens. Will my flash not "fire" that far to fill in? (I ask because some were taken with flash in AE mode). Help!

Today is "Clean out the fridge" day. I probably shouldn't show this, but here is my messy, unorganized fridge. Task for today, clean it out and reorganize it! I will try to post photos after I finish!
TFL!

My yard needs work! I keep lamenting on how we need to weed and plant and telling DH how ugly the yard looks. With DH going to Glamus this weekend, it became another weekend of "avoid the yardwork" play and business!
On a brighter note, while walking around the yard I did find some acutal beauty. This hummingbird really likes our orange flowers, won't touch the hummingbird feeder, but visits the flowers regularly. I got this one photo and then he flew away. I was waiting for him to come back so I could get something better, but he never came back. The second picture is "aspiring" beauty.. a flower bud in a plant out front! Thanks for looking!

I realized today that I have no smiling pictures of "baby" (no that is not her name, but what everyone in the house calls her). So she became today's POD subject. She is a wily little thing and hard to manage, but cute. I know the first one is over exposed but I like how it shows how green her eyes are (my green-eyed baby, the other two have blue eyes). The second picture is the "smile"! I know she has crumbs all over her soft little cheeks and her hair hasn't been brushed, but she is my little "chunckin butt" and we wouldn't have her any other way!

I decided to give the kids a break today. They are acting terrible, too much energy! These pictures are of one of my newest friends. My Brother sewing machine broke down about a month ago, so I decided to just buy a new one! I love this Kenmore Mini Ultra! Too bad it may never see any fabric under its needle, but it sews paper like a dream! TFL!

Well, I am late posting these today, but you know they say, better late then never! So here they are.
Today was the girls first day at gymnastics! so, of course I took my camera, but unfortunately, I chose the wrong settings!!!! Boo-hoo! Most of my pictures turned out blurry! Better luck next time! Anybody want to offer some tips on getting better shots next time? TFL!

So, I cheated a bit. These moon pictures I took last night while I was trying to work on the settings for night photography. It was a cloudy night and the darn clouds kept moving over the moon and then away. It did give me some time to readjust my settings in between shots. I know they are not great shots, but the moon is truly white, not yellow and the black sky looks black, which I am proud of. I think that "reflection spot" in the first photo maybe a reflection off the clouds? who knows!

Now, since I cheated, the next picture is of our Daisy dog. We really love this dog, she is the best! She lets the kids do whatever they want to her and she just sits there.. and the kids adore her. She is truly an important part of our family.

I am starting today. Struggling to get the perfect Christmas picture shot of the girls. Today was NOT a good day! I should have known better! I did just read in some photography book about not photographing children when they are tired or hungry or restless. Well, I broke the rules today! But they were begging to put on these new Gymboree duds and really wanted to open these holiday lights, so I thought, "what the heck"... frustration ensued! Out of about 50 pictures these are the best???
Yes, this is going to be a difficult task! but, afterall, tomorrow is another day!

November 6, 2005

Ok, so I hate the Navy... ok, not really, but because that is my husband's job, it dictates the majority of our family decisions and plans (e.g. move to San Diego) and today, their decision to have a meeting on a Sunday sucked once again! The carelessness and mediocracy of a few "good" men is pretty much ruining Family Fun Day today! DH was supposed to be in an "A** chewing" meeting until 11:00.... well, it is 1:15 and I haven't heard sight nor sound of him! As I have been told a thousand times, "it is a 24 hour a day job".

Now this wouldn't be such a big deal except my three little angels are dressed and ready to go and not acting so much like angels since they are restless and want to go to Sea World and see Shamu. As a matter of fact, they are following me from room to room and they keep asking when Daddy will be here... I am going to pull my hair out!

Enter, my ingenuity.... The fish tank saves the day because we got some new additions yesterday and we must study their behavior! We must also find some information on them from the web.

So, since it looks like there will be no Sea World pictures today, I chose to attempt to photograph our Nanoreef tank. It was really hard and I took about a thousand shots with different settings. The lighting is an issue which I could not really conquer and the camera would not focus on "Nemo" because he would not sit still! -- just like a kid, he kept swimming around and flapping his fins! The other thing is a feather duster. Oh.. and that big "fish" is my daughter! TFL!

Quick, impromtu trip to Balboa Park today. Hannah on this spinning "chair" and then I figured that I never seem to take pictures of the "scenery" so this is my attempt. TFL!

Being National Cliche Day; my pictures are inspired by two things.. my youngest daughter Holly's obsession with shoes and these shoe inspired cliches:
  • "don't criticize him until you have walked in his shoes"
  • "it will be hard to try and fill his shoes"
  • "walk a mile in my shoes"
  • "I felt bad because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet"
  • "goody two-shoes".

Holly is 18months old and already obsessed with shoes! She spends about half our day finding shoes around the house (in closests, under beds, just lying around) and putting them on and taking them off. In addition, she cannot stand for Daddy or me NOT to have shoes on our feet at all times so when I am barefoot she will chase me around the house yelling "shoes" with a shoe in her hand. Once I stop, she will push, poke and prod me until I put the shoe on my foot! Today I decided to go out to the garage to the "shoe bin" (these are shoes that have been outgrown by one daughter and put away until they fit the next . Holly was in heaven! She dumped the box out and what you see is the aftermath! The lighting kind of sucks and the carpet is ugly, but this is the governments house and you cannot say much for their taste!

Ok, so according to the "Unique Holiday" list today is Housewife's Day. In my opinion, everyday should be housewife's day and the housewife (this includes every woman who is married and has a house/apartment/etc - because they are housewives too, right?) should be showered with lovely gifts and praise.

I am new to this "housewife" thing, since we moved to CA in September and decided I would stay home with the girls, and I must say I really do feel like I am a wife to the house (or rather a slave) - When I worked I was less concerned with the cleanliness of the house and more concerned about having some "me" time since I was swamped with reports to write, kids to push out the door, dinner to make and therapy to plan in addition to all the housework. I guess then I didn't figure there was ANY way in the world I could do it all, but now, well now, there is tons of time. and I still do not manage to get it all done!
So, today's pictures are a testament to my ongoing list of chores
as a "houswife".

In addition, I didn't want to forget the Theme Thursday photos -- so being the great housewife I am, here are pictures of my middle DD eating her healthy breakfast of "sparkly" poptarts and chocolate doughnuts!

Whoa! I am on the ball today! It is only 8:00am and I have already taken my PAD pics and posting them!!!! I needed some inspiration for today's photos since we have no big plans for the day and it is still a bit overcast this morning, so I checked the fun holiday reminder someone posted about and discovered that today is "Find Circles Day"! So, that is what I did! I found these circles while milling about my backyard --- Thanks for checking them out! Oh, and I broke the rules, I took like 6 pictures, instead of one (sorry!)

Ok, so here we are... The first day of the photo-a-day challenge! Since having 3 babies within four years and going from a size 6 to, well, a size..... (not telling!) I have struggled with pictures of myself. I really don't like to have my picture taken and I hate even more to look at them once they are taken! So, here I am today.. no make-up, in all the messy stay-at-home Mom glory. Took the photos myself with the timer and changed one to b&w since my skin is so ruddy! Well, looks like I managed to tackle two challenges today: the photo-a-day challenge and the "i hate pictures of me challenge! Thanks for checking my pics out!
